Going north on Rte 3 from Lincoln you pass the Old Man of the Mountains, an amazing natural rock profile located in Franconia Notch. Then continue north through some wonderful countryside to Twin Mountain, a small town located at the top of Crawford Notch.

Take Rte 302 south from Twin Mountain. This lovely road passes between sheer cliffs and walls of avalanche scarred pine forest rising steeply from the banks fo the Saco River's headwaters. There are opportunities for short or long hikes and walks just off this road at nearly every turn. One in partucular offers a 35 minute walk to Arethusa Falls, New Hampshire's tallest waterfall.

Continue south on Rte 302 through picturesque Bartlett to Glen, NH where you will join Rte 16 south, through Intervale [the location of the Swiss Chalets Village Inn, our recommended romantic lodging for the White Mountains of New Hampshire.] to the village of North Conway, a vacationer's and shopper's mecca.
